The Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past Shotaro Ishinomori Shotaro Ishinomori is a legend in Japan.  After creating such beloved works as Cyborg 009 and Masked Rider , it's amazing that he took the time to form a story from a Super Nintendo game.  But I'm glad that he did! I was a subscriber to Nintendo Power growing up, and I distinctly remember reading the comics in the magazine, including  Star Fox  and Super Mario Brothers , but I was an RPG fan, so The Legend of Zelda sticks with me.  In fact, I played The Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past , but even if Ishinomori had straight-up adapted the story of the game, it would still be a very different experience, merely because the mediums are so different.  Reading a book that was made into a movie is a different experience too.  But Ishinomori didn't just adapt the story from the video game - he made it his own.  He created characters for the story, and threw...

"Written In the Water" by Gin Wigmore

A lot of titles have already debuted from Marvel's Battle World .  Some great, some lame, and some eh.  Here's the tally so far. 1602: Witch Hunter Angela #1 Marguerite Bennett and Stephanie Hans I love the art on this title.  Angela fits into the 1602 line really well, actually, and they adapted her character to this role in the best way possible.  I'm a fan of this Elizabethan storytelling, when in the right hands, as it proves to be here. Grade: A A-Force #1-2 Marguerite Bennett, G. Willow Wilson and Jorge Molina Of the Battle World books I've read, this is one of the more sunny superhero-y ones.  The ladies are front-and-center, protecting their realm from threats, and trying to stay under Doom's radar, for fear that they will be paid a visit by the Thor Corps.  With She-Hulk ambassador of the realm, they investigate some odd goings-on.  Great art.  Bonus points for a cameo of Meggan.  I'm glad this is going to be a...

"Look What We've Become" by Grace Potter

Today marks the ten year anniversary of Comics-and-More !  To celebrate, here's a look back at my favorite comics from each of the past ten years! 2014 Beautiful Darkness by Fabien Vehlmann and Kerascoet Not only did Kerascoet illustrate the excellent graphic novel Beauty this year, but the artist team is responsible for the stunning art of my favorite graphic novel this year, Beautiful Darkness .  In this grotesquely beautiful fairy tale, we see the little people who live inside of us as they abandon the corpse of a little girl who dies unexpectedly, learning to survive in the world around them.  The little creatures interact with nature, which is unforgiving, and form cliques that can be as ugly as the rotting corpse that they live around.  The watercolors are utterly fantastic, and the fact that they are so pretty contrasts deliciously with the darkness and decay that pervades the story in a wonderfully perverse way.  There are shocki...
