I saw the cover image from Hilda and the Bird Parade on the cover of  ForeWord Reviews  magazine, and investigated it, and I'm really glad that I did!  Luke Pearson's latest all-ages graphic novel wasn't available from Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago when I was looking into it, so I ordered his previous works surrounding the little blue-haired girl Hilda.    Hildafolk Luke Pearson Hildafolk is part of UK publisher Nobrow Press' 17X23 line of graphic short stories, and is in the format of a comic, with exceptional printing quality.  This story introduces readers to Hilda, who lives in the countryside, where myths and fantasy creatures are very real.  She has a little blue fox with antlers named Twig, as a sidekick, is friends with a boy made out of wood, and otherwise lives in a warm little house with her mother.  In this short, we see her first encounters with the strange wooden boy as Hilda ventures into the hills t...

I know the month is already underway, but here are the books shipping to comic shops in March that caught my eye in Previews Catalogue ...   Unico SC - An all-ages classic manga from Osamu Tezuka!  Featuring a cute little unicorn! Guardians of the Galaxy #1 - Guardians of the Galaxy is of course the next Marvel franchise to hit the silver screen, so I bet a lot of people are eagerly awaiting this series to familiarize themselves with the characters.  I really like the comics from a few years ago, so I'm definitely on board for this new series. John Byrne's Fantastic Four: Artist's Edition HC - If there was ever a time to get on board for IDW's excellent Artist's edition, this is it! Brian Michael Bendis & Bryan Hitch Another Marvel crossover event began with a bang this week, as the first issue in the Age of Ultron mini-series debuted (complete with a foil cover that you can't miss on the stands), which will see stories crossing over into several other books, including Fantastic Four , Wolverine and the X-Men and Uncanny Avengers .  The mini-series will run for ten issues, with artists Brandon Peterson and Carlos Pacheco taking over art chores in later issues, after the first half is completed by Hitch.  Coming off of Avengers vs. X-Men , they have quite the shoes to fill, as that crossover event proved epic and actually really, really good.  Fans have been waiting for Age of Ultron for awhile now, since we got a little preview a few years ago in the opening volume of Bendis and John Romita Jr's Avengers  series, in which Kang took key Avengers members to a future ruled by Ultron.  So, it's been a bit of a wait, but it's fi...
